Our Core Values

  • The Club is a Republican organization dedicated to promoting good government.

  • It encourages well-qualified individuals to run for public office and strives to keep its membership informed and educated on important issues.

  • The Club holds monthly meetings featuring speakers who are typically local, state, and federal elected officials, as well as experts knowledgeable in local, governmental, and global affairs.

The Pelican State Pachyderm Club was founded in 2002 to further conservative ideas and elect Republicans to political office.

PATRICK TAYLOR LEADERSHIP AWARD​

     The PSPC Board has awarded a Republican Activism Award annually for a Republican in Louisiana who has contributed substantially—in time, effort, funding—to further the Republican cause in a way beyond the call of citizen efforts or expected duties of an elected official.

Patrick Taylor was chosen in 2005 for his creation of a merit-based state college scholarship now called TOPS—Taylor Opportunity for Students—a model which was then successfully replicated in many states. When he passed away in 2005, the Award was given to him posthumously. PSPC renamed the “Patrick Taylor Leadership Award” in honor of his exceptional impact on education and the Republican party in Louisiana and many other states. The Award is given without the recipient’s prior knowledge, as a surprise (which sometimes involves the families ensuring the recipient attends.)
